Quantum Crossroads – exploring the intersection of arts, culture, and quantum science and technology.

Mā te pohewa mā te auaha hoki, ka whakapuaki kā kura e huna ana. With imagination and creativity a hidden jewel can be revealed.

Quantum science and technology is advancing quickly, with predicted social and technical impacts that will require radical reimagination of how we understand the world. Artists are uniquely and powerfully positioned to communicate the complexities of quantum phenomena and navigate this shift.

Furthermore, as we look to find a way through the changes quantum technologies will effect, the integration of diverse histories and knowledge systems into visioning the future of quantum is critical.

Quantum Crossroads is a gathering of experts at the intersection of arts, culture, and quantum science and technology. Sponsored by the UNESCO International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), the goal of this gathering is to draft a vision document for strengthening and further developing this interdisciplinary field on a global scale over the next decade. The document we produce will be circulated through our networks for feedback in the second half of the year, before being submitted to UNESCO for the IYQ 2025 closing ceremonies.

Across three days, we will hear lightning talks, provocations, and meet in working groups to address challenges and identify key themes as we chart a course for the future and draft this critical document.
