Broadening the cohort of leaders in photonic and quantum technologies

It takes a range of skills and disciplines to be successful in quantum and photonic technologies, from engineering to mathematics, as well as chemistry, physics and biology. Sometimes experience in a particular discipline such as biotech or health can be a bonus. At Te Whai Ao — Dodd-Walls Centre we recognise success relies on many people. Right now we’re making a call for Affiliate Members, the people who complement our traditional skills base, helping bring our combined strengths to fruition.

Te Whai Ao Dodd-Walls’ Affiliate Members

Affiliate members are individuals or organisations which don’t undertake research that directly supports our research KPIs. They’re invited to Centre events, including the annual DWC Symposium, included in the All-Members mailing list, and will receive the Weekly Update, quarterly Newsletter, and any other relevant communications.

Affiliate members will have a profile on the Te Whai Ao — Dodd-Walls Centre website. They work in support of Te Whai Ao — Dodd-Walls Centre strategic activities, or in alignment with our Research Plan and Impact Statement from the latest TEC Review. The Affiliate Member policy and a summary of our research online is also worth a look. Affiliates should collaborate with at least two Te Whai Ao — Dodd-Walls Centre Investigators or be strongly engaged with DWC co-research activities such as Te Ao Māori, Industry, or Engagement. Affiliates are not normally eligible to apply for contestable DWC funding but may apply for Caregiver Funding.

Application: Applicants should email dwc@otago.ac.nz with a cover letter addressing the eligibility criteria and their CV, along with two letters of support from DWC members. There’s no application deadline, but we would love to hear from you while this is top of mind. Applications will be considered by the DWC Executive Committee at its next meeting, usually quarterly and will be notified of the outcome of their application within two weeks of that.
