Quantum Meets Infrastructure (Including Logistics)

Quantum Meets Infrastructure (Including Logistics)

This workshop considered industry challenges such as a lack of network information, structural health monitoring and geotechnical surveys. We discussed quantum solutions to issues in the water, roading and electricity networks. National Manager of Research and Innovation at WSP, Wendy Turvey, highlighted the need for more predictive modelling as NZ providers sweat their legacy infrastructure. Dr Simon Granville from Victoria University outlined where he saw the opportunities in sensing, gravity detection and electromagnetics. Senior Principal Engineer at Transpower, Andrew Renton said he was dealing with management of a nationwide asset affected by corrosion and was looking for a solution.

Australia's former Chief Scientist Dr Cathy Foley told the audience that if there was a single take-away from the seminar, it should be that quantum technologies are incorporated in the National Infrastructure Plan by the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga.
