Quantum Meets Agriculture

Quantum Meets Agriculture

This workshop considered challenges such as plant and animal health, environmental monitoring and supply chain traceability. Australia’s former Chief Scientist Dr Cathy Foley saw a link between work being done in quantum and photonics for sports integrity(doping) and food integrity and sourcing. The strong opportunities for quantum in the Maori economy were also discussed.

Fonterra’s Principal Research Scientist, Steve Holroyd outlined the need to analyse product quality, safety, composition and a myriad of other indicators throughout the processing chain. Dodd-Walls Centre Deputy Director Science, Professor Keith Gordon explained that photonics could be used to speed up time in the lab where chemical imaging is a slow process.
