Quantum Meets Health

This workshop explored how quantum tech is reshaping diagnostics, drug discovery, and precision medicine. Australia's former Chief Scientist (2021-2024), Dr Cathy Foley explained the opportunities in personalised health, sensors and quantum simulations among other areas.

Director of the Te Whai Ao Dodd-Walls Centre, Professor Frédérique Vanholsbeeck outlined the centre’s work in biomedicine, noting medical spin outs Luminoma for skin cancer diagnosis and Probentis for prostate cancer detection. John Robson, MD BioOra said most new drugs took ten years to develop and pointed to regulatory challenges involved in speeding up clinical trials. Dodd-Walls Centre Principal Investigator, Dr Cushla McGoverin referenced the use of quantum and photonic technologies to improve logistics and supply chains.
